Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri has joined Spanish side Alaves on loan for the rest of the 2020-21 season. Pellistri joined United during the last summer transfer window from Uruguay and is yet to make an appearance for the Reds’ first team. Pellistri has impressed for the U23s however, and while the coaching staff has decided that he isn’t yet ready to make his senior debut for United, he would benefit from making the step up elsewhere.

Alaves currently sit 18th in La Liga, and though a relegation battle isn’t usually the kindest environment for a young player, the Babazorros have only scored 18 goals in the league all season and could desperately use more attacking threat.

In other loan news, two United youngsters have been recalled early from their temporary moves, only to be rerouted elsewhere. James Garner has had his spell at Watford canceled, and has joined Nottingham Forest for the remainder of the current campaign. Garner had featured regularly for Hornets earlier this season, but since new manager Xisco Munoz took charge, Garner had found minutes hard to come by.

Tahith Chong has also had his loan at Werder Bremen canceled, and has now joined Club Brugge for the rest of the season. Chong only made 13 appearances for the German club in all competitions, and will hope to see more action for Brugge, who currently sit top of the Belgian league.

One player who will not be joining his young teammates on loan is Brandon Williams. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that the young fullback will remain at United to provide depth at both full-back positions for the remainder of the season.

“Brandon will stay. He played for the 23s against Liverpool for some match fitness. He’s been working really hard and we don’t have any more players that we feel will be going.

Brandon has been really good lately, working really hard in the last few months and he’s ready when the chance comes.”
