The usual Paul Pogba news from the international break has arrived yet again, but this time there is no mention of Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid. No, this time Pogba is waiting for a new contract offer from Manchester United.

The Frenchman has made an impressive start to the season, racking up assists left and right as his side started the campaign. Dropped points in the last two matches have exposed some of the problems to address going forward, and seen Pogba’s contributions go a bit quiet along with everyone else’s, but has not been enough yet to overshadow the work done to build a stronger team in the last couple years. The team is expecting silverware now, and Pogba appears ready to commit what will likely be his final years of peak form to the club after a drawn out process.

L’equippe has reported in France that Pogba and his agent Mino Raiola are waiting on a massive contract offer from Manchester United, one that will make Pogba one of the highest paid players in Premier League history. Fans are pretty split on Pogba, with some still yet to come around on the midfielder abilities and output. His services however are greatly valued by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Pogba’s own teammates. Bruno Fernandes even went so far as to say he would wait on Pogba’s extension before he extended himself.

Pogba’s desire to extend his contract comes at a good time for United, as he is one of the few upcoming expirations in the core group of starters. The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo has complicated the wage structure at the club, but Cavani’s departure next summer will free up a lot of room on the books. For now, we wait and hope that the situation is resolved soon.
