Manchester United and France defender Raphael Varane has been ruled out for at least a month after suffering a hamstring injury in yesterday’s 2-2 draw with Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League group stage. Varane was withdrawn in the first half of the match, after having returned from a groin injury at the weekend against Tottenham, and is now expected to miss even more time.

The club released a statement today on Varane:
“The club confirms that Raphael sustained a hamstring injury, which is expected to keep him out of action for around a month...
We’d like to wish Raphael all the best as he works on his recovery.”
Varane’s injury comes at a bad time, as United continue to struggle with keeping the opposition out of their goal, but the return of Eric Bailly to the starting XI with a solid performance in Bergamo is a positive sign at least.
