The Europa League round of 16 draw was held today and Manchester United drew AC Milan, and a familiar face will make his return to Old Trafford, Zlatan Ibrahimović.
United will be at home for the first leg, which is scheduled to take place on 11 March. The second leg will be away on 18 March.
AC Milan sit second in Serie A, are yet to win the Europa League while United’s only triumph was in 2017 so on paper this will be a fantastic matchup and possibly the most difficult opponent United could face in the tournament.
Speaking of the draw, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær told club media:
“It’s one of those draws again that you feel could be a Champions League game. It’s good for us to have these games to look forward to. This team needs challenges and we enjoy challenges and we embrace them … Zlatan, of course, I’ve been so impressed, I’ve got to say, by how his career has gone. He had a career-threatening injury when he was here but came back from that and went to MLS, then came back to Milan and has really lifted them.”
