Manchester United preserved the illusion of a Premier League title race by pummelling Southampton 9-0 in midweek, and will be hoping to carry that momentum into Saturday’s fixture at home to Everton. It could be a difficult game, with the Toffees only four points adrift of Liverpool and the Champions League places, but United need a win to keep the heat on league leaders Manchester City.
Edinson Cavani and Eric Bailly are both early injury doubts, though the Uruguayan is expected to be fit to start. Everton’s biggest confirmed absentee is goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who joins Niels Nkounkou and Jean-Philippe Gbamin on the treatment table. Allan and Fabian Delph face late fitness tests.
