Manchester United are keen on signing Vincent Angelini from Celtic, according to reports.
The Sun reports that the 17-year-old goalkeeper is out of contract at the end of the season, and there is no new deal in sight for the player at Parkhead. That means he could leave without Celtic’s say so at the end of the season.
United are far from the only team who are interested in the teenager though, with Everton and Southampton two other Premier League sides who retain an interest in the player. However Angelini has an Italian father and he is attracting intention from Serie A clubs. There is as a result plenty of competition for his signature.
Three clubs who are interested in Italy are Lazio, Atalanta and AC Milan, and the player is enthusiastic about moving to Italy in order to develop.
Celtic are growing accustomed to losing young players to sides abroad. Liam Morrison joined Bayern Munich and Josh Adam went to United’s crosstown rivals Manchester City. Additionally, Karamoko Dembele could move to Germany, with Borussia Dortmund keen. Their American youngster Cameron Harper could go to MLS.
Manchester United have signed a number of younger players over the past few windows as they look to lower the average of the squad. Daniel James arrived from Swansea City and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were signed for the first team, and teenager Amad Diallo is expected to graduate to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad in the near future. Facundo Pellistri has been sent on loan to Alaves for the rest of the season with Solskjaer suggesting he could soon be ready for Premier League action.
Further down the age range, Marc Jurado, Alvaro Fernandez and Isak Hansen-Aaroen have also been brought in, as well as Joe Hugill from Sunderland.
