Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe is hoping for a loan move away from Old Trafford ahead of the forthcoming season. Despite forcing his way into Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s first team squad, the former England youth international has failed to break into United’s starting lineup, and made only nine Premier League appearances last season — five of them from the bench.
At 23, Tuanzebe is at a delicate point in his career, and now’s the time for him to prove he’s got what it takes to become a great defender. Playing experience will be crucial for his development, and he’d be a great acquisition for a mid-table Premier League side.
He’s already benefited from loan experience, having spent two seasons at Aston Villa between 2017 and 2019, where he played a vital role in their return to the top flight. It wouldn’t be surprising if Dean Smith made a move to bring him back to Villa Park for another season.
Tuanzebe has one more year left on his United contract, but ESPNFC report that it contains an option for an automatic extension to 2023.
