Manchester United have completed the signing of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid, and pending a medical he will be the latest addition in what is shaping up to be one of the more exciting transfer windows in recent memory.

The four-time UEFA Champions League winner and 2018 World Cup Champion will move to Old Trafford for the seemingly bargain price of just around £34m plus add ons per The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

Varane will reportedly sign a four-year contract upon arrival, and once he clears Covid protocols he will be able to arrive in England to complete a medical.

The spreading out of the transfer fee over several years is a big plus as well, freeing up Manchester United financially in the current transfer window and moving forward in future seasons. It will be nice to have a bit more spending room, especially with a deep-lying midfielder still high on the list of needs for Solskjaer’s squad.
