Jesse Lingard has rejected a contract offer from Manchester United, one that would keep him at the club for an additional five years. It is rumored that Lingard, who opted to stay and fight for his spot in the time, is looking for assurances that he will be given first team opportunities going forward.

Lingard, whose current deal runs up at the end of the 2021-22 season, spent a spell on loan at West Ham last season. He was electric in claret and blue, sparking rumors of a permanent move to London this summer. Lingard will be in the United squad at least until the January window, and United may be more inclined to accept a lower offer with Lingard willing to run down his contract.
Lingard continued his re-emergence with England over the international break, scoring twice and assisting once in a World Cup Qualifier against Andorra at Wembley.
