Player ratings from Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Manchester City.
David De Gea - 7
Didn’t really have a lot to do today, which goes to show how well the team defended.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka - 8
His urgency on the ball after we went a goal down betokened what was to come.
Raphael Varane - 8
This best old-school defender in the world.
Luke Shaw - 9
Paulo Maldini reincarnated.
Tyrell Malacia- 9
His aggression in the first half set the tempo for United.
Casemiro - 8
Wasn’t his best game but he still managed an assist.
Fred - 9
Tireless effort. Always turns up in the big games.
Christian Eriksen - 5
Should’ve probably been subbed off a bit earlier. One of the few underwhelming performers.
Bruno Fernandes - 8
Put in a selfless display and was rewarded with a fantastic goal.
Marcus Rashford - 9
Unstoppable at the moment.
Anthony Martial - 5
Offers a few things, but was rightly taken off. Had many chances to make dashes in the box.
Subs
Antony - 6
Brought some fire off the bench.
Alejandro Garnacho - 8
Should’ve come on for Eriksen a bit earlier, but better late than never.
Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire, and Scott McTominay - N/A
Manager
Erik ten Hag - 8
I actually felt like he got a few things wrong in this game. United have a lot of players suited to playing City, and not playing with three forwards for most of the game felt like an odd choice.
The minute there were three forwards, City were on the back foot. Having said that, making a comeback against a side like City, and getting the three points is massive. Erik ten Hag’s the best manager we’ve had since Sir Alex left, and this is his biggest result so far.
