Jadon Sancho’s transfer to Manchester United appears imminent after he reportedly completed his medical with the side.

Sancho is back from the Euro 2020 finals after his involvement in the game against Italy, where he was one of three England players to miss their penalties.

United have been pursuing the player since last summer, when they failed to make a bid to the Bundesliga team, and instead signed Donny van de Beek, Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles, Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo.

However manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has wanted to strengthen the right wing of the side and he looks to have finally secured his number one target, the 21-year-old England international.

The Sun reports that he has now undergone the medical examination with United, and he should move within the next 48 hours and an announcement in due course. There is believed to be no problem with the medical, and he will be unveiled in the club’s new kit.

Borussia Dortmund wanted more than £100 million last summer but they have reduced the asking price in 2021 to £73 million, with the impact of the coronavirus giving them less room to be strong in the face of a player who wants to move on.

Like Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford, Sancho is entitled to three weeks off to recover from his international exploits before joining up with his prospective new teammates ahead of pre-season training.

He brings with him a scoring record of 50 goals in 137 appearances, plus assists, with his German side, and will be expected to take on much of the creative responsibility of the team.

United are said to be interested in a central midfielder, particularly if Paul Pogba leaves, and have also been linked with Real Madrid’s French international central defender Raphael Varane. Solskjaer wants a partner for Harry Maguire who is not called Victor Lindelof, something which Varane fulfils.
