Thiago Alcantara is "very close" to signing for Manchester United and could even be unveiled at David Moyes' first press conference, rumoured to be on the 5th of July, according to a new report on ESPN.

Miguel Delaney's United sources are generally good, and he confirms that the source came from the United end, which is better than it coming from Thiago's representatives, since it could be seen as a ploy to negotiate a better contract elsewhere.

Oddly, the report says that the source compared it to the Wesley Sneijder negotiations, although information that has since come to light around that suggests that United were never as close as rumoured. A lot of people have compared the Thiago saga to Sneijder, Eden Hazard, and others, but personally I haven't seen the resemblance. Even with the likes of Hazard, I don't think we were ever as near to getting it done as we have been to Thiago so far.

Pretty much all the news is repeatedly positive concerning United's chances of getting this one done and dusted, so let's hope that this will indeed be sorted out in the next few days. When all sources - the Spanish media, those linked to Thiago, and those linked to United - are in agreement, as they are now, it can only be a very good sign.
