United monitoring young English striker

Radamel Falcao out, Danny Ings in?

When Burnley striker Danny Ings was turning out for non league minnows Dorchester Town five years ago, one imagines that he'd never have dreamed of being a replacement for Radamel Falcao. However, according to the Manchester Evening News today, he could well make a move to Old Trafford in the summer, on the back of an impressive debut season in the Premier League.

Now, this section of TBB is still a little sceptical of Ings' potential, and that if we had to go in for a young English forward, would rather it be the younger, more well-rounded Saido Berahino. However, Ings carries one undeniable advantage: his contract expires in the summer. That means United could get a very handy rotation option for nothing but the cost of his wages, and compared to Radamel Falcao's, they'd be peanuts.

There's also the fact that he's been linked with Liverpool for a while, and annoying Scousers is, of course, priceless.
