Louis van Gaal's summer wishlist apparently revealed

Sounds good to us.

Louis van Gaal is set to continue his "'Galacticos' transfer policy" this summer, according to a report in the Daily Mail yesterday. The three biggest players apparently on his wishlist are Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels, Juventus midfielder (and ex-United reserve *sob*) Paul Pogba, and Barcelona right-back Dani Alves, though more names are mentioned.

Right-backs Nathaniel Clyne and Danilo of Southampton and Porto respectively are both mentioned (and would probably be more sensible, long-term purchases), as is PSV winger Memphis Depay. However, Kevin Strootman's knee troubles have thrown his move "into doubt," and Gareth Bale wants to stay at Real Madrid, despite "major interest" from Old Trafford.

Now, this report does seem rather like the Mail have thrown everything at the wall and hope something will stick, though there are a few reasons why it may deserve a little more credit than that. The Mail aren't serial fabricators like their 'Daily ...' counterparts, and certainly don't tend to post things with a byline if they are just rehashing nonsense. What's more, these are all players that it's easy to imagine United having an interest in. They're all in positions that could do with being strengthened, and would invariably make pretty good acquisitions.

Maybe there is some fuel behind the flames.
