We've still not seen Matteo Darmian holding a Manchester United shirt and forcing a smile in front of a wall of sponsors' logos, but we have at least moved a step closer to official confirmation of his imminent move from Torino.
In a press conference today, ostensibly organised to demonstrate to the assembled press that Memphis Depay is a real life walking talking person, United manager Louis van Gaal confirmed that Darmian will soon have his medical at Carrington. Apologies, the AON Training Complex.

Fortunately Darmian's injury record is pretty good -- he's played over 30 league games in each of the last four seasons -- so no problems are anticipated with his medical. With any luck, it won't be long before he's finally confirmed as United's second signing of the summer.
