Manchester United's striker level is already at critical, but that hasn't stopped a rumour popping up in the Mirror this afternoon saying youngster James Wilson could be heading to West Bromwich Albion on loan. The Baggies are apparently just one of "a number of clubs" interested in signing Wilson, but they're the only one named in the report.

As the Mirror's Adrian Kajumba notes, Wilson would be the sixth striker to leave Old Trafford this summer after Robin van Persie, Radamel Falcao, Javier Hernández, Ángelo Henriquez and Will Keane. It would leave Wayne Rooney as the only out-and-out striker left at the club, though he's about as useless as chocolate teapot. Suffice to say, the situation's not good.

In truth, Wilson's unlikely to play much football for United this season anyway, and him getting more regular game time elsewhere would be good for his development. However, it leaves us worryingly bare up top, and even if Anthony Martial arrives, a little more depth wouldn't go amiss.
