As expected, Manchester United have completed the signing of Anthony Martial from Monaco. The 19-year-old Frenchman is the sixth addition to the squad this season, and though the fee is of course undisclosed, most reliable sources are reporting an initial fee of £36.3m rising, through various add-ons and supplementals, to £58.8m.

Which is a lot for a 19-year-old, but hey: it's not our money, and it's not yours. Is he any good? Well ... nobody really seems to know. Everyone seems to agree that there's talent there, but he's very young, very raw, and hasn't scored all that many goals in his Monaco career so far. (That said, he's only played 64 professional games.) But he's been prolific at various age levels for France, and Didier Deschamps called him up to the full national squad for the first time this week.

Be prepared, however, for comparisons to Thierry Henry: not only is he a quick French striker, but according to the Telegraph he and Henry played for the same youth team, CO Les Ulis. There'll be a lot of this. Hopefully he isn't quite such a smug television presence. Hopefully he scores goals in similar quantities.
