A rumour! A fresh one! According to the Daily Mail's Kieran Gill (at 11:03 on their live blog) ...
Manchester United are considering a last-minute move to sign Mathieu Debuchy on loan.
Arsene Wenger insisted at his press conference on Monday morning that the Arsenal right-back was likely to stay ... but United are understood to have joined the race with Louis van Gaal desperate for defensive cover following injuries to five of his full-backs.
Apparently Wenger doesn't think a permanent deal can be done but is still open to the possibility of a loan move. We're massively sceptical about this one: the idea of Arsenal loaning Manchester United a player to get them out of a tight spot is a very strange one indeed. Not to mention the fact that this particular aspect of the Busby Babe has never been particularly convinced about Debuchy.
Although, it would be very Arsenal to loan out their second-choice rightback, only for their first-choice to suddenly come down with some unspecified malady and miss the rest of the season. So Hector Bellerin will presumably be hoping that nothing comes of any of this.
