Manchester United could be ready to cut their losses on Bastian Schweinsteiger by allowing the 31-year-old to leave in the summer. According to a report in Turkish sports daily AMK, domestic giants Fenerbahçe could swoop to sign the German international for a reported fee of €7 million.
Of course, this could be a load of old nonsense, and we can't say we're particularly familiar with the work of AMK. However, with Schweinsteiger continuing to struggle for fitness, it's unlikely he's got too long left at the top. He's clearly not a player any United manager from here can rely on as a regular first-teamer.
And so, there may well be some fire beneath the smoke. But on the flipside, there isn't much financial gain to be made by selling, and United are still not stocked especially deep in midfield; keeping Schweinsteiger on as cover until a replacement or two are added would probably be the most sensible course of action.
