We must confess, we're entirely unfamiliar with Bordeaux's teenage attacking midfielder Adam Ounas, though take comfort in the fact that our photographic database is also yet to make his acquaintance. That is indeed why we've just got an image of the Bordeaux stadium instead. Nice, isn't it? Like a trendy minimalist Scandinavian office. No entry without turtlenecks.
But we digress. The Mirror's football head honcho John Cross brings us the news that:
They have already made contact over the 19-year-old attacking midfielder and are trying to set up a summer move as they prepare for a new era under recently-appointed manager Jose Mourinho.
The France Under-20 international made a big impression this season, making 28 appearances and scoring six goals as his club finished 11th behind champions Paris Saint-Germain, and United's scouts have been keeping close tabs.
The bad news is that Ounas is tied down to a contract to 2019, so Bordeaux have no immediate need to sell. Indeed, if he really is as good as United' interest would suggest, it may well make more sense for them to give him another season in which he can develop and perform even better, before squeezing every last drop out of the lurking giants.
Standing at only 1.72m tall, Ounas doesn't seem like your traditional Mourinho-type player. But if the video below is anything to go by, he's quick and direct both in possession and in his runs, and looks like he'd be more conducive to higher tempo football than Juan Mata.
If it is a rumour, it seems an odd one to make up -- especially for the Daily Mirror's chief football writer. Instead, we think that this is probably a space to be watched.
