According to the president of Lyon, Jean-Michel Aulas, the club will not stop French international Alexandre Lacazette from leaving one day, if Barcelona or Manchester United were to present a suitable offer. With rumours spreading that the forward will be looking to leave the Ligue 1 side during the summer, it doesn’t come as a surprise that he has been linked with the Red Devils out of all clubs, who have been having some problems in front of goal the past few months or so.

Whilst creating over 400 chances so far this season, Manchester United have only converted 33 of them and it could be the main reason to why they won’t be finishing in the top four at the end of the campaign. Keeping in mind that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is only a short-term fix and Marcus Rashford isn’t ready to lead the line on a weekly basis, Lacazette could be the ideal forward that Manchester United and Jose Mourinho need.

On the other hand, the 25-year-old is yet to bag 30 goals in all competitions within a single season, and if he cannot be achieving that in a less competitive league, then what makes it possible for him to thrive in the Premier League? Lacazette would be seen as a cheaper option than the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Romelu Lukaku and Harry Kane, though in the current campaign has scored 19 league goals in as many appearances.

The 2014/15 Ligue 1 Player of the Year has also been linked with a potential move to Arsenal and Liverpool in recent weeks. With the hitman destined to move to England soon or later, it would be seen as a big risk to sign him as Lyon will only be considering a fee between £40million and £50million.

Although the Red Devils are in need of a top goalscorer, Lacazette doesn’t actually fit the profile of a Mourinho front man. United need someone who can make the most out of the one or two chances given to them and that can help the team on the pressing side of the game. If the boss is desperate to add a forward in the summer, a more reliable and proven option should be chosen.
